Short description

My project explores various aspects of how saving, investment and adoption of new technology in industrial enterprises relate to their productivity, success and survival. How do business behaviours and outcomes differ between sectors and over time, with different intensities in competition and industrial change? Which enterprises cope best with periods of crisis? Is this decided by a "pure" market logic or by other institutional conditions? I investigate these questions using the Swedish manufacturing industry in the first half of the 20th century as a case.
