About the project

Associates at the Language and Literature Unit have participated in the creation of European Language Portfolios for age groups 6–11, 12–16, and 16, that is, for upper-secondary school and adults. This work was initiated as an expert assignment commissioned by the Council of Europe regarding the matter of self-assessment in portfolio assessments and then continued in collaboration with the Section for Continuing Education at Uppsala University and on commission from the National Agency for School Improvement.

The three Swedish models of ELPs have all been validated by the Council of Europe and are tools that can be used to help students become aware of their own learning and language development. ELP consists of three parts: a language passportsession, a language biography and dossier, and the student working with self-assessment towards a European standard - The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
