Migration researcher and HR director new honorary doctors

The board of the Faculty of Social Sciences has appointed Jenny Phillimore, professor of "migration and superdiversity" at the University of Birmingham, and Kjell Svensson, former HR director at AB Volvo, as new honorary doctors at the faculty.

Motivations:

"Professor Jenny Phillimore has a strong connection to the Department of Sociology and Work science as well as the School of Global Studies and her research is relevant to many of the Faculty of Social Sciences' subject areas. Professor Philimore is appointed an honorary doctorate for her unique and multifaceted contribution to research on migration, integration and diversity, and for the dissemination of knowledge about innovative collaborative research and analysis methods of great relevance for social science research in increasingly complex societies.

Kjell Svenson, former HR director at AB Volvo, has initiated and strongly contributed to the establishment of the Center for Global Human Resource Management (CGHRM), as well as a professorship in HRM, in collaboration between the Faculty of Social Sciences and the School of Business, Economics and Law. Kjell Svenson is appointed an honorary doctor at the Faculty of Social Sciences for his extremely valuable contribution in establishing collaboration in the borderland between academia, organization and work experience and thereby enhance the development of issues of a strategic nature and in the borderland between empiricism and theory."
