About

The course is conducted in the form of the individual student designed mini-study whose main content reflects the application and evaluation of qualitative and quantitative methods in geography. At the beginning of the course, the student plans the mini-study and discusses the plan with the course's teachers and other students at a seminar. As part of the mini-study, the student then applies both qualitative and quantitative methods.

The student chooses, within certain limits, focus and study objects. The work with the mini-study is followed up continuously during supervision and seminar meetings. Lectures are also given focusing on the methods used in the mini-study. The course concludes with a final seminar where each student actively participates and discusses his/hers and other students' mini-studies. The course provide students with a solid grounding upon which to conduct a thesis, and also for use in their subsequent careers.

Prerequisites and selection

Requirements

Eligible to be admitted to the course is applicantwho meets the requirements for a bachelor's degree of 180 higher education credits in human geography, geography or equivalent.

After graduation

Studies in Human Geography give you the possibility to work in a variety
of professions, both in the public and private sectors. For example you
can work with physcal and social planning, environmental issues or
development coorporation.

Facilities

The School of Business, Economics and Law (usually nicknamed "Handels") is located at Vasagatan 1 and at Viktoriagatan 13. The building at Vasagatan houses the Economics Library, which is several floors high and offers many study places.
