About

transformed religions in ways and at a rate that has been rarely seen.
The return of religion and spirituality is evident in contemporary
popular culture such as movies, games and books.

The course addresses
relationships between religion, digital media and popular culture based
on current research in the field. Central concepts such as popular
culture and digital religion are presented and discussed. Throughout the
course, interaction between religious traditions and groups, digital
media and popular culture is highlighted, and the latter’s contribution
to religious change is emphasized.
