Biodiversity in Western Sweden
About
The course gives a basic introduction to biodiversity research and therein included key concept such as evolution and ecological patterns. The course covers current threats against global biodiversity in a historical perspective. The course focuses on biodiversity and unique habitats in Gothenburg with surroundings and global biodiversity that is preserved ex situ in Western Sweden. The basic concepts for practical conservation biology and practical considerations and consequences be introduced. Members of Gothenburg's Global Biodiversity Center (GGBC) that include sixteen organisations that all work with biodiversity and conservation biology contribute to the course.
Part of international Summer School
This course is part of University of Gothenburg’s international Summer School for Sustainability. The Summer School gathers Swedish and international students and offers a broad extra-curricular program to which participants can attend.
The Summer School for Sustainability is a chance to act on sustainability and deepen your understanding of global challenges and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. All during five inspirational summer weeks in Gothenburg.

Selection
Selection is based upon average grade from upper secondary school (34 %), the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits (33 %) and Högskoleprovet - Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test (33 %).
