The Assar Gabrielsson Visiting Professorship
Anders Danielsson, former Governor of Västra Götaland County, Director General of the Swedish Migration Agency and Director General of the Swedish Security Service, has been named as the new holder of the Assar Gabrielsson Visiting Professorship at the School of Business, Economics and Law.
“I am of course happy, honored and proud to have become Visiting Professor at the School of Business, Economics and Law, but also a little excited and nervous about the challenge. I hope to share experiences and knowledge from my long time in public administration and 20 years as head of government with students and researchers, and contribute to insight into and perhaps also development of public administration”, says Anders Danielsson
The assignment as Assar Gabrielsson professor comprises 20 percent during the period 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2024. As a Visiting Professor, Anders Danielsson will meet students, researchers, alumni and partners to the School of Business, Economics and Law, in discussions and lectures.

About Anders Danielsson
Anders Danielsson has a Master of Laws degree from Lund University. After a long career in the police service, including as County Police Chief in Skåne from 2002 to 2007, he was appointed Director General of the Swedish Security Service in 2007. During the years 2012 to 2016, he was Director General of the Swedish Migration Agency. After a short period as Secretary General for the Swedish Red Cross, he was appointed Governor of Västra Götaland County in 2017, a position he held until the end of 2021. Anders Danielsson has participated as an expert in several government investigations and has been appointed special investigator in the Climate Law Inquiry, which will review relevant Swedish legislation to achieve Sweden's climate goals.

The Assar Gabrielsson Visitin Professorship in applied corporate management was initiated in 1999 in memory of Assar Gabrielsson (co-founder of Volvo) and is funded through a gift from the foundation Stiftelsen Göteborgs Handelshögskolefond. The purpose of the professorship is to provide students with wider knowledge regarding application of the theories in economics and leadership that they encounter in their studies.
