Speech and communication disorders in different progressive neurological conditions

Short description
The general aim of this research is to describe speech and communication disorders following different acute or progressive neurological conditions.
Examples of speech and communication disorders the project is examining:
- Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor (in collaboration with Fredrik Karlsson and Linda Sandström at Umeå University)
- Multiple sclerosis and cervical spinal cord injury (in collaboration with Ellika Schalling and Kerstin Johansson at Karolinska Institute)
- Slow growing brain tumours (in collaboration with Malin Antonsson)
In addition, effects of different types of intervention is studied – both surgical (brain tumours and essential tremor) and speech-language treatment (such as expiratory muscle strength training).
