Short description

A follow-up study of uncertain professional investments.

The research project sheds light on the conditions of professional artists and artisans when it comes to combining professional careers and family life. Here, the connections that exist between these conditions and social factors such as gender, ethnicity, occupational position, social background, generation and various forms of assets and resources are examined. The project also examines how individual actors try to reconcile family life and artistic professions, as well as what main problems and opportunities they perceive in these contexts. The empirical material of the study is based on follow-up interviews with a group of young women who were interviewed earlier between the years 1999 and 2004, as well as a questionnaire study sent to Swedish artists and artisans.
