Summary

This course addresses the problems of integrating different national market systems into one single European market. You will gain a thorough understanding of the complexity of the internal market within the European Union. The focus is on case-based work with practical examples of market integration, and you will learn about policy-making, legislation and practical implementation from an administrative and business perspective.

About

This course provides a thorough understanding of the complex process of creating a single internal market within the European Union. You will study what problems arise when different national market systems are integrated into a single market. The political policy-making process, national and European legislation and economical aspects will be the focus of the course. We will also discuss how the internal market affects manufacturing and services, life conditions, labour markets, capital flow and infrastructural development in Europe and its neighboring countries.

Prerequisites and selection

Requirements

The entry requirements for the course is a Bachelor's degree of 180 credits, with a minimum of 90 credits in consecutive courses in a social sciences discipline or equivalent. Students at the Law programme are also eligible the course after three years of studies (180 credits, equivalent of a bachelor degree). Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.

Selection

Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.

After graduation

You will be able to critically analyse and solve
practical cases and problems regarding the internal market. Furthermore, you
will be able to argue for your analytical findings orally and in writing.
