Applied Information Technology with specialisation in Educational Sciences
The aim of the doctoral programme is to develop the knowledge and skills as well as the critical ability necessary to, individually and in collaboration with other researchers or practitioners, plan, conduct and present, both verbally and in writing, scientific studies of implementation, development and organisation of information technologies for education, teaching and learning.
The subject is interdisciplinary. Based on theories and methods derived from computer, systems and educational sciences, it also encompasses broader perspectives grounded in social and behavioural sciences, as well as in the humanities.
The research within the field aims at developing knowledge, terminology and methods for pedagogical applications of information technology and is grounded in empirical studies in the form of, for example, field studies, action research and design experiments. Research based on development work may also be conducted.
