About Yuliya Kanygina
I am a post-doctoral researcher in practical philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science at the University of Gothenburg, attached to Lund Gothenburg Responsibility Project. I received my PhD in Philosophy from Central European University in December 2018. After graduation, I taught undergraduate courses at the Institute of Philosophy at Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest) as a Global Teaching fellow. I also served as Visiting Faculty at the Department of Philosophy at Central European University, where I taught a core MA course Ethics.
I work primarily in moral philosophy on issues relating to the idea that apart from duties to other persons and sentient creatures we also have non-derivative duties to ourselves. I pursue this agenda, broadly construed, within two related projects: What We Owe to Ourselves (which is based on my dissertation) and Moral Responsibility and Third-Party Blame.
