About Chiao-I Tseng

Chiao-I Tseng is Senior Lecturer in Communication. Her research work integrates large-scale multimodal discourse analysis with computational and digital methods, as well as with cognitive approaches such as eye-tracking and comprehension studies. Using these tools, Tseng examines how visual and audiovisual structures shape narrative meaning and influence audience interpretation.

She have applied these methods in several research projects:  

  • Children’s comprehension of audiovisual and transmedia narratives (with Dr. Emilia Djonov at Macquarie University)
  • Interdisciplinary project FakeNarrative, which develops computational approaches for detecting narrative strategies and disinformation in news videos.
  • TACTIK: ​​​​The Transformation and Consequences of News on TikTok, funded by VR.

Tseng is also Fellow in the Society for Cognitive Studies of the Moving Image (SCSMI) and member in the EUTOPIA connected community - New Technologies of Learning and Skill Transfer.
