The course treats the linguistic theory that forms the basis of the Arabic grammar tradition.
About
You get a historical overview of the development of the Arabic grammar tradition from its beginning in the 8th century down to the present day, and we discuss the relationship between the grammar tradition on the one hand and language ideology and language didactics on the other. The course includes both studies in secondary literature and authentic examples of texts from the Arabic grammar tradition.
Language of instruction: English and Arabic
The language of instruction is primarily English. If, at the beginning of the course, the participants so wish, the teaching may instead be carried out in Swedish. The course literature is both in Arabic and English

Requirements
The entry requirements for course is a Bachelor's degree. An additional requirement is at least 90 credits in Arabic or the equivalent thereof, as well as Swedish 3 and English 6.
