The MIJ-students’ final project went viral

Within hours the master students' final project in investigative journalism had been shared more than 10 000 times and had thousands of comments, not least in the US and Philippines.
Wanna Ver also wrote an opinion article in the Washington Post: "Why I must confront the Philippines’ painful past — including my father’s role".

Wanna Ver, Atmi Pertiwi, Adolfo Canales, Jody Fish and Leonardo Taddei are taking a closer look at the so-called “Golden Age” of the Philippines during the period of Martial Law under Ferdinand Marcos.

They tell the story through Wanna Ver’s own history. Her father, General Fabian Ver, was Marcos’ right-hand man during Martial Law, where he oversaw the military responsible for committing numerous human rights violations. They have also interviewed a number of Martial Law survivors and their families.

On May, 9th, there will be presidential elections in the Philippines. The son of Ferdinand Marcos, Ferdinand Marcos Jr (aka Bong Bong) is running for president.
