New fund for journals, conferences and research networks

As part of the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research's efforts, a Nordic Gender Fund is now being established. An annual call for proposals will support infrastructure for research on gender, with a first call issued in autumn 2024.

The Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research at the University of Gothenburg is providing research-based knowledge on the conditions for a free knowledge society, a just working life, and an equal Nordic region. The Secretariat´s commissioners include the Swedish government, the Nordic Council of Ministers and the EU, and this work often involves collaboration with researchers and other stakeholders at national, Nordic and international level.

The Secretariat´s activities also include supporting the infrastructure for a broad field of research on gender and other power structures. As part of this work, the Secretariat is now establishing a Nordic Gender Fund, with calls for proposals once a year.

"Safeguarding activities that develop and strengthen research on gender is an important part of our mission. Therefore, we are now establishing a Nordic Gender Fund with an annual call for funding to support journals, conferences and networks," says Fredrik Bondestam, Director of the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research.

The purpose of the fund is to strengthen infrastructures for knowledge produced within a broad field of critical studies of power. This may include research on norms, notions and structures that reproduce and maintain inequalities based on for example gender, race/ethnicity, sexuality, class, age.

A first call for applications will be announced after the summer, and further information on this will be available later this spring. All information about the fund will be published on the Secretariat's website, Facebook, LinkedIn and via the mailing list Genuslistan.
