New article by Dang and McKelvey investigates how knowledge management processes and regional context influence the discovery and creation of entrepreneurial opportunities

Published

Much work has been done on entrepreneurial opportunities at the individual level, but little has been done to investigate how knowledge management processes and regional context influence formation of new firms. This paper analyzes entrepreneurs in the Nice-Sophia-Antipolis cluster operating in the ICT sector (mainly software, telecom, and microelectronics design) and entrepreneurs in the Marseille cluster operating in the microelectronics sector. This article demonstrates how firms can use resources from the local environment to create their company, and that different types of knowledge are created, acquired and appropriated in the two regions.

Journal of Innovation Economics & Management has just accepted this new article by Dang and McKelvey. The full title is "Knowledge management processes and the formation of entrepreneurial opportunities".
