The Backgrounds and Early Careers of Swedish Bishops in the Late Middle Ages

In this seminar I will present the provisional findings from my ongoing research project, in which I examine how the characteristics and career paths of mediaeval bishops varied across the seven dioceses of the Swedish ecclesiastical province, how they developed over the course of the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, and how these patterns reflect the broader political and social context of late mediaeval Sweden."
