About Ulrika Andersson

My work as a researcher in in Journalism and Mass Communication started in 2002. In 2009 I received my Ph.D. after having defended my doctoral thesis about how Swedish journalists approach their audience. In 2015 I became Assistant Professor in Journalism, Media and Communication.

Research interests Journalists´ approaches to their audience; how increased audience orientation affects professional journalism; changes in how Swedes use news media; the meeting between professional journalism and management in Swedish newsrooms; how medias´ reports on research misconduct affect public confidence in science.

Since 2015 I am managing the Swedish Newspaper Research Programme at the SOM-institute, and since 2017 the Journalism Panel.

Lecturing I have been lecturing the Journalism Education and Media and Communcation Studies since 2004. Focus is set on quantitative methodology, leadership in the newsroom, and supervisions of student thesises.Currently I am supervising three doctoral students,
