About Maria Grönroos

Deputy Director with special responsibility for work environment and operational support, and the Secretariat's Nordic mission.

Currently I am also coordinating the Nordic Gender Equality Fund and the Nordic LGBTI Fund, which our Nordic co-operation body NIKK manages on behalf of the Nordic Council of Ministers.

My academic degree is a master's degree in political science from Åbo Akademi University, majoring in economics. I also have a degree as an information specialist from the Helsinki University of Technology.

I have previously worked as Director of the Secretariat's Norwegian sister organisation Kilden at the Research Council of Norway. Before that I worked at the Nordic institute NIKK at the University of Oslo, and previously as a information specialist at the Institute for Women's Studies at Åbo Akademi University. I have also worked on various assignments for, among others, Umeå University and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in Finland.
