Call for proposals
The 6th SimPro Conference will take place in Gothenburg on April 15, 2026, and invites proposals for presentations related to simulation-based professional learning.
We especially encourage contributions grounded in ethnographically informed studies that aim to open the black box of simulation practice by closely examining what happens when people train together and engage in reflection around simulated scenarios. Rather than focusing solely on outcomes, SimPro foregrounds detailed analyses of interaction, embodiment, and situated activity in order to advance knowledge about learning processes and the conditions that support the development of professional knowledge through simulation.
This year’s theme, “Collaboration in Simulation”, invites researchers to explore how professional learning is shaped in and through social interaction. We are particularly interested in how knowledge, skills, responsibilities, and perspectives are coordinated across roles and participants during simulation-based activities. This includes the collaborative organization of tasks during training, as well as how reflection, feedback, and institutional framings support or constrain joint meaning-making. Simulation is not only a pedagogical method, but also a setting in which professional roles and ways of knowing are negotiated and enacted.
We welcome presentations based on empirical and theoretical work, as well as those that demonstrate practical applications of teaching and learning in simulated environments. Contributions may include fine-grained analyses of interaction, ethnographic studies of simulation cultures, or comparative work across professional domains. By shedding light on how people learn with and from each other in simulation, the 2026 SimPro Conference seeks to deepen our understanding of professional learning as a fundamentally social and situated process.
Each submission requires a title of up to 100 characters (including spaces) and an extended summary of 300-500 words (including references).
