Short description

The project aims to increase knowledge about collaboration between professional organizations and voluntary actors in dealing with crisis and disaster situations. It focuses specifically on examining how the rescue services and voluntary actors collaborated in connection with the largest forest fire in Sweden's modern history - the fire in Västmanland in the summer of 2014. In retrospect, efforts by volunteers have been highlighted as very valuable. For responsible and professional organizations, however, it can be a challenge to work with volunteers and a number of dilemmas and risks have been highlighted.

The project's questions are:What did the collaboration between rescue services and volunteers look like during the forest fire in Västmanland and its aftermath? Which voluntary actors participated and in what ways did they contribute?
