Test bed for SEK 7.6 million in Dals Långed to strengthen Swedish research in furniture design

Mötesplats Steneby, with the partners HDK-Valand Campus Steneby, Interior cluster Sweden AB and Trä och Möbelföretagen recieves SEK 7.6 million grant for development and innovation from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth to build a research environment, test bed, in Dals-Långed.

At HDK-Valand's Campus Steneby in Dals-Långed, there is a lot of knowledge in the subject. We have both research and education in furniture design, including the master's and bachelor's programs in Wood Oriented Furniture Design. The investment with the test bed will create opportunities for many organisations within the furniture and interior design industry, to come to Steneby and work with investigative design processes, and sustainable development of their products and companies.

- It will be a completely unique platform for future research and development projects together with the furniture and interior design industry, says Torsten Hild, professor at HDK-Valand Campus Steneby, University of Gothenburg. This is something that has been lin demand for a long time, and that is important for the transition to a green, circular and sustainable production and consumption.

The funds are allocated by the European Regional Development Fund and the Västra Götaland region. The test bed's operations will start in the autumn of 2022.
