From archive to game with GPS400: New ways to tell the city's story

The history of Gothenburg comes to life in games and interactive narratives during a game jam as part of the project Gothenburg through the Ages.

The history of Gothenburg comes to life in games and interactive narratives during a game jam as part of the project Gothenburg through the Ages. The project explores different parts of Gothenburg's history, contributing to the preservation and accessibility of the city's rich cultural heritage.

Organised as part of Gothenburg's 400th year anniversary, our latest game jam in Glashuset on 18-20 November 2022 brought the city's rich history into new media formats. A number of dedicated enthusiasts explored and transformed written, photographed and filmed material from the city's history into game prototypes that can be experienced interactively by everyone on the GPS400 website.

During the autumn of 2023 we will organise a new game jam with a focus on the central parts of the city. If you want to know more please feel free to contact us.

What is a game jam?

Game jam refers to the musical "jam session" where musicians meet to play and compose music together without significant preparation. Similarly, game jams are events where game developers gather to build playable prototypes based on experimental ideas.
