Research My laboratory is developing small molecule chemical tools and therapeutics for Neurodegenerative diseases, (e.g., Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s). A part of this research is focused on Nuclear Receptors ligands, e.g., the sex hormone receptors, estrogen receptor β (ERβ) and the androgen receptor (AR). The discovery of novel compounds with different pharmacodynamic properties might lead to safer and more efficient drugs. This research is performed in collaboration with biotech and an academic research consortium based at Lund University, MultiPark.
Biography Roger Olsson, Ph.D. is the Director of Medicinal Chemistry at ACADIA Pharmaceuticals and adjunct Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the faculty of medicine, Lund University and at the faculty of science, University of Gothenburg. His main research interest is focused on diseases of the central nervous system, e.g., Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia and pain. The synthetic chemistry research is focused on developing practical and efficient methods for the synthesis of biologically active molecules.
