I study selection and evolution in quantitative traits in both lab and field systems. My research has addressed what maintains genetic variation despite strong selection in pure and applied contexts, and described the importance of environmental heterogeneity for this process. Recently funded projects are especially concerned with how fluctuating selection in resistance to biopesticides could lead to sustainable pest control.
