Campus Medicinareberget is home to students of medicine and healthcare professions as well as natural sciences.
On Campus Medicinareberget, you will find yourself in the heart of the university’s health and life science research and education. Here, you can study to become a biomedical analyst, physiotherapist, dentist, nurse or medical doctor. Students of biology, molecular biology, and chemistry will also spend a great deal of their time here. Within a couple of years, the Medicinareberget area will develop into a vibrant hub for life sciences in Gothenburg, with several new buildings housing innovative and state-of-the-art facilities, research and education within the health and life sciences.
Medicinareberget is located near the Sahlgrenska University Hospital, between Guldheden and Linnéstaden. The area also accommodates, among others, the National Dental Service's specialist clinics, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, the Swedish NMR Centre and the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular and Translational Medicine.
Medicinarelängan, Hälsovetarbacken, Odontologen, Lundberg Laboratory, the Zoology Buildning and Conference center Wallenberg are some of our existing premises on Medicinareberget.
Education in medicine and healthcare professions is mainly conducted in Medicinarelängan, at Hälsovetarbacken and at Odontologen. Students of molecular biology also have most of their lectures in Medicinarelängan. All of these buildings have modern lecture halls, well-equipped computer laboratories and functional study rooms.
Students of medicine and healthcare professions will have their practicals in the clinical training centre, KTC, at Hälsovetarbacken. KTC consists of several patient rooms, an emergency room, an operating room, an X-ray room, a speech and hearing lab, a CPR room, a conversation room, a creation room, a medicine room, rinse, storage and several small rooms where you as a student at Sahlgrenska Academy can practice practical handling, care of the patient, conversations and team collaboration.
At Odontologen is Folktandvården's education clinic. If you are training to be a dentist or dental hygienist, you will treat patients here during the training.
Lundberg Laboratory hosts several modern course laboratories where students of molecular biology and biochemistry have their laboratory classes.
The Zoology Building, home to students in biology, can easily be recognized by its large mural. The building has several lecture halls and a course laboratory.
Natrium a new building for natural sciences
From the autumn semester of 2023, students in biology, environmental science, chemistry, molecular biology and marine science will receive their education in Natrium, a new multi-purpose building.
