Core Facilities networks and collaborations
All Core Facilities units have strong national and international profiles and are part of national research infrastructures. This ensures the highest quality services also for our local researchers. On this page you can find an overview and links for further reading.
SciLifeLab Gothenburg
SciLifeLab is a national life science research infrastructure with a wide range of advanced technology and expertise at several sites in Sweden.
The Gothenburg site is coordinated by Core Facilities but includes units at both the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology, also with a strong connection to Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
SciLifeLab platforms in cooperation with Core Facilities
Four out of Core Facilities’ seven units, Centre for Cellular Imaging, Bioinformatics and Data Centre, OligoNova Hub and Proteomics Core Facility, are a part of SciLifeLab’s platforms.
SciLifeLab Platform: Cellular and molecular imaging
Core Facilities’ unit Centre for Cellular Imaging (CCI) is part of the two SciLifeLab units within this platform; Integrated Microscopy Technologies and Cryo-EM.
SciLifeLab Platform: Clinical Genomics
Core Facilities’ unit Bioinformatics and Data Centre is a part of the SciLifeLab unit Clinical Genomics Gothenburg (CGG).
SciLifeLab Platform: Drug Discovery and Development (DDD)
The Core Facilities unit OligoNova Hub comprises two drug discovery and development (DDD) units: OligoNova Biology and OligoNova Chemistr
SciLifeLab Platform: Clinical Proteomics and Immunology
Core Facilities’ unit Proteomics Core Facility is a part of the SciLifeLab Unit: Glycoproteomics.
Biobank Sweden
Biobank Sweden is a national infrastructure for biobanking where healthcare, academia, industry, and patient organisations collaborate to attain good healthcare and research.
On regional level, Biobank Väst is in close collaboration with the Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
Protein Production Sweden (PPS)
Mammalian Protein Expression (MPE) is hosting and coordinating the national research infrastructure Protein Production Sweden (PPS) and forms one of the units focused on production and purification of protein reagents of excellent quality for researchers.
BioMS
The Proteomics Core Facility (PCF) is a node within the Swedish National Infrastructure for Biological Mass Spectrometry (BioMS). Through BioMS, researchers gain access to cutting-edge mass spectrometry and related advanced technologies for their research projects. As a nationally distributed infrastructure, BioMS combines specialized analytical capabilities and expertise across its nodes to support the diverse needs of the Swedish life science community.
Genomic Medicine Sweden (GMS) and Genomic Medicine Center Väst (GMC)
Core Facilities' unit: Bioinformatics and Data Centre (BDC) is a part of Genomic Medicine Sweden (GMS) is a collaboration between the Swedish Regions that provide university health care and the medical faculties working with precision medicine. The collaboration also includes patient organisations and industry.
On regional level, the collaboration is handled through a genomic medicine center.
Swedish Research Council
Experimental Biomedicine (EBM) works in close cooperation with the Swedish Research Council through the joint website djurforsok.info. The website gathers information from all medical faculties in Sweden concerning animal-based research and is coordinated by the Swedish Research Council.
Swedish 3R Centre
EBM also work with the Swedish 3R-center which is a forum for knowledge-sharing and an important national actor for reducing, refining and replacing animal research in Sweden.
