Get insights on how to find a place to live in Gothenburg! We will give you an overview of how to navigate the housing market in Gothenburg, and our student ambassadors will share their own tips and tricks on finding housing.

After your admission, our International Centre is keeping you updated on all the key steps you need to take before coming to Gothenburg. You'll also receive invitations to webinars, onboarding activities, and to join Goin', a community app for students admitted to the University of Gothenburg.

1 May 2026 - Deadline to pay tuition fee
For those required to pay tuition fee, 1 May is the deadline to make the payment. When you have received the notification of selection results, an email will be sent out with payment instructions. About tuition fee payments
6 May 2026 - Webinar: Preparing for your studies
There are a lot of things to have in mind when starting your studies in a new country. We will help you prepare your journey to Gothenburg by giving you tips on what to pack, how to navigate the city, study culture in Sweden and more. A recording of the session will be available soon.

June and July
During the summer, our International Centre will keep you updated with newsletters containing information about the Welcome Programme and other preparations for your move to Gothenburg.
If you applied in the second admission round
18 June: Deadline for Supporting documents (exceptions exists)
10 July: Admissions results are published
20 July: Last day to reply to your offer
23 July: Second Admission results published
August and September
18 August - Welcome Day (online)
10:00-12:00 & 17:00-19:00 (CEST)
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Pauli Kortteinen opens the Welcome Day by officially welcoming you to the University. After that, we move on to introductions to university services, such as the GU card, University Library, student unions and more. The presenters will also be available to answer your questions.
Location: online via Zoom
25 August - Swedish study culture & Living in Sweden (on-site)
Time: 10:00-12:00 or 13:00-15:00
With the help of colleagues, guest lecturers, and current international students, we'll delve into Swedish study culture, and what life is like in Sweden. The same program will run at 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-15:00. You choose one of the two time-slots when the registration opens (link in the pre-arrival letter to come).

27 August - Welcome Fair (on-site)
Time: 10:00-11:00, 11:00-12:00 and 12:00-13:00
At the Welcome Fair, you will meet student associations, student unions, university services, support functions, sport clubs, and more.
Joining a student organisation is a great way to meet new friends, meet Swedish students and gain experiences of value for your future career. When registration opens, you can choose one of the three time-slots.

31 August - The semester starts
The official start of the autumn semester. You will receive program-specific information about the start of your studies from your faculty or department.
You will receive detailed information about our Welcome Program during the summer.
Apart from the activities listed here, your faculty or department might also arrange separate introduction events at the start of the semester.

Goin’ is a social network for new international students at the University of Gothenburg.
On Goin' you can:
