About Richard La Bontee
I work at the Unit for Academic Language (ASK) as coordinator for higher education didactics and as a language supervisor in English for both research writing staff and teaching staff.
Some of my ongoing responsibilities at ASK include facilitating a series of writing workshops aimed at developing research writing skills for doctoral students and staff, collaborating with teaching teams to develop approaches to teaching and providing feedback on student text, and working one-on-one supervising research-writing staff, amongst various other staff-focused collaborations, workshops and courses.
I hold a Master's in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition from the University of Oxford, and a PhD in Applied Linguistics (Swedish as as second language) from the University of Gothenburg. My research interests include second language acquisition, vocabulary learning, academic writing and communication, and pedagogical approaches to doctoral writing supervision.
