  • EUTOPIA-TRAIN initiative awarded SwafS funding

    [4 Aug 2020] EUTOPIA-TRAIN is an ambitious research initiative launched by the EUTOPIA Alliance, a network of six universities that have been awarded an Erasmus+ ¿European Universities¿ pilot project. On July 24, 2020, the initiative was awarded funding under the Horizon 2020 call Support for the Research and Innovation Dimension of European Universities (SwafS).

  • Potato peel nets can provide more eelgrass

    [30 Jul 2020] By fundamentally strengthening the seabed with a net made on potato peelings, the conditions for eelgrass to take root can increase significantly. It shows experiments made by an international group of researchers, including from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The method can be used to restore coastal vegetation and protect the coast from erosion since eelgrass can reduce the wave action reaching the beach.

  • AI agents can learn to communicate effectively

    [17 Jul 2020] A multi-disciplinary team of researchers from Chalmers and University of Gothenburg has developed a framework to study how language evolves as an effective tool for describing mental concepts. In a new paper, they show that artificial agents can learn how to communicate in an artificial language similar to human language. The results have been published in the scientific journal PLOS ONE.
