Short Bio
My primary research focuses on the impact of technology and market policies (for example, (de)regulation, mergers, subsidies, labor, trade) on competition and industry dynamics. In recent years, I have analyzed industries, such as retail trade and high-tech (manufacturing and services).
Markets become more complex to analyze due to rapid technological change and various industrial policies. Currently, I am working on different projects to create new economic tools that use recent methods in statistics and computer science (e.g., machine learning, reinforcement learning, decision making under uncertainty). The aim is to use these tools to investigate the impact of entry regulation on product variety in retail, the impact of deregulation in pharmacy markets, industrial policies in high tech services, the role of governmental and local policies in promoting competition in the broadband industry.
