Working Life for Humanities Graduates
What career opportunities are available after studying at the Faculty of Humanities? What are former students (alumni) doing today? On this page, you’ll find tips and inspiration for your future career.
Career Fields
Here you’ll find career fields and common job titles within areas that are often relevant for students of the humanities. Keep in mind that many jobs exist across different sectors – for example, communications officers work in almost every industry. Also remember that behind a job title there may be tasks and responsibilities that align well with your education.
What kind of responsibilities does a project manager or a strategist have, for instance? Could you work as a project manager as an archaeologist, cultural studies graduate, or linguist? The role may look very different depending on the workplace where you are a strategist or project manager. Other factors that can shape the job include whether the workplace is large or small, very local or global. What kind of environment do you think you would thrive in?
The same title can therefore involve very different tasks depending on these factors. Depending on how you combine courses in your degree, there may also be industries and professions open to you that you might not have considered at first. Dare to think outside the box and explore what employers are looking for.
