About doctoral studies at the department

An important part of the departments work is teacher education, research and developmental work that concerns school and teacher education. School-related work is often conducted in collaboration with, for example, the National Agency for Education (Skolverket), municipalities and individual schools.

The study programme

The study programme for a doctoral degree comprises 240 credits (equivalent to 48 months of full-time studies) and includes a course component of 85 credits and a thesis component of 155 credits. A licentiate degree comprises 120 credits and includes a course component of 50 credits and a thesis component of 70 credits.

Research programmes at the department

The Department of Pedagogical, Curricular and Professional Studies host three research programmes; Didactic classroom studies, Critical education research and Phenomenography, Variation Theory and Learning Study.
