Dr. Yusuf Sheikh Omar, keynote speaker

Yusuf Sheikh Omar (PhD) from School of Social Science, from La Trobe University, Australia. Currently, the Director, Talo Wadaag Project of Heritage Institute for Policy Studies. He was Research Associate at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) University of London, 2017-2022; Researcher at the University of Melbourne & St Vincent Hospital (2012-216). His research has focused on Somali & Horn of African Diaspora, peacebuilding, identity, etc. In 2012–2013, Yusuf was appointed as a member of the African Ministerial Consultative Committee for the Australian Federal Government. Yusuf is a peace practitioner.

Dr. Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, keynote speaker

Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir is a prominent politician in Somalia. He is credited for playing a role in the establishment of several educational institutions during the civil war. Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir is the current Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education in Somalia. Minister Farah has also in the past served as the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Presidential affairs in previous Somali governments. Prior to entering top politics the Minister was among leading academics who remained and proactively served the country as well as the public by particularly seriously engaging and contributing to the re-establishment and development of functioning and viable education system in the country, following the tragically devastating civil war in the 1990s.
