5th Nordic Seminar on Prevention and Control of Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance, November 4-6, 2026 in Göteborg (Gothenburg), Sweden

The aim of the conference is twofold: To present novel and important research findings in the field of infection prevention and control and antimicrobial resistance, to inspire health care professionals and junior researchers to get started with research in the area.

Everyone is warmly welcome to the 5th Nordic Seminar on Prevention and Control of Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance in Göteborg.

The seminar will be a joint event hosted by the Nordic Research Network on Infection Control https://www.gu.se/en/biomedicine/nordic-research-network-on-infection-control and the Center for Antibiotic Resistance Research (CARe) https://www.gu.se/en/care

Planned major themes include (preliminary):

  • Novel research on spread of antimicrobial resistance genes and the microbes that carry them.
  • Surveillance and transmission modelling to identify key determinants for spread of antimicrobial resistance
  • Biomaterials, biofilms and health care associated infections
  • Novel perspectives on the built environment – can we combat health care associated infections and antimicrobial resistance by planning our buildings wisely?

We welcome short talks and posters within the field of Prevention and Control of Infections and Antimicrobial resistance, not necessarily related to the themes above. Junior researchers who present their work as short talks (20 minutes + 5 minutes for questions), can apply for funding of travel costs.

The conference will also provide an excellent opportunity to network across different fields and across the Nordic coutries.

The conference is free of charge, including lunch and coffee during the three days of the conference.

The conference is held at the Wallenberg Conference Center, Medicinaregatan 20, Gothenburg, https://motesservice.gu.se/konferenscentrum-wallenberg close to the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and the Medical Faculty of the University of Gothenburg (the Sahlgrenska Academy).

In the registration form, please indicate whether you would like to present your own research, either in the form of a short talk, or a poster, and whether you apply for funding of the costs for travel (only for presenters).
