Swedish Forum for Human Rights
For several years, the School of Global Studies, through the Faculty of Social Sciences, has been an active member of the organizing committee for the Swedish Forum for Human Rights.
The Swedish Forum for Human Rights (Mänskliga Rättighetsdagarna, or MR-dagarna) is Europe’s largest forum for collaboration on human rights and a meeting place for academia, policymakers, public authorities, civil society, upper secondary school students, university students, and the general public. Held annually, the Forum aims to increase knowledge and help ensure that respect for human rights permeates society and has a strong presence in public discourse.

Forskare vid Institutionen för globala studier är aktiva vid det tvärvetenskapliga Centrum för kritiska kulturarvsstudier. Centrumets syfte är att problematisera vad kulturarv är och hur kulturarv upplevs och används inom olika samhällsarenor idag.
Utrikespolitiska institutet
Institutionen för globala studier samarbetar med Utrikespolitiska institutet (UI) i programmet Global politik och säkerhet. Samarbetet inleddes våren 2017 och undersöker hur människor och samhällen blir allt mer sammankopplade och beroende av varandra, globalt och gränsöverskridande.
Institutionen för globala studier och UI arrangerar tillsammans forskningsseminarier där forskare från både UI och institutionen deltar. Forskare på institutionen skriver även artiklar i UI:s populärvetenskapliga tidskrifter och deltar i seminarier för allmänheten.

Research centres
On the Ocean website (Havet - in Swedish), the School of Global Studies contributes social science research on environmental issues related to the ocean.
Centre on Global Migration
Several of our researchers contribute new research on migration and integration at the University of Gothenburg’s Centre on Global Migration.
Centre for Critical Heritage Studies
Researchers at the School of Global Studies are active at the interdisciplinary Centre for Critical Heritage Studies. The Centre aims to critically examine what constitutes cultural heritage and how it is experienced and used in different areas of society today.
Swedish Institute of International Affairs
The School of Global Studies collaborates with the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) through the Global Politics and Security programme. The collaboration began in spring 2017 and explores how people and societies are becoming increasingly interconnected and interdependent, both globally and across national borders.
The School of Global Studies and UI jointly organize research seminars involving researchers from both institutions. Researchers at the School also contribute articles to UI’s popular science publications and participate in seminars for the general public.

Doctoral Collaboration in Rwanda and Bolivia
Since 2003, the School of Global Studies has collaborated with the University of Rwanda on a capacity-building project funded by Sida (the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency). The aim of the project is to provide institutional support for the development of sustainable national research capacity in Rwanda.
In collaboration with Universidad Mayor de San Simón (UMSS) in Cochabamba, Bolivia, the School of Global Studies has established a new interdisciplinary doctoral programme in the social sciences.

The School of Global Studies is part of three research schools:

Networks
Researchers at the School are members of several research networks.
The Gender and Development In Practice (GADIP) network was established in 2007 to create a platform for exchange between researchers and practitioners working in the fields of gender and development. The network focuses on sharing and disseminating knowledge and facilitating open-ended discussions on gender and development issues between researchers and practitioners.
The Resistance Studies Network was established by researchers at the School to address the lack of academic research on resistance and social change. Through networking, conferences, research, and publications, the network aims to strengthen collaboration among researchers interested in practices of resistance and their relationship to power and social change.
The School of Global Studies is a member of the Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI), a network for research and education in the field of human rights.
The research network for Knowledge on Palestine, Academic Freedom and Solidarity (GUPAS) consists of teachers and researchers from different faculties at the University of Gothenburg. It aims to increase knowledge about the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, as well as the University’s support for and collaborations with Israeli universities and how these collaborations affect the situation of Palestinians.
