Surgery

Welcome to the research area of ​​surgery. We are a subject with two sites at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, but also at Medicinareberget. Research is conducted throughout the Västra Götaland region with both clinical, experimental and translational focus.

About us

The research is based on clinical questions, at the same time often translational. We conduct a lot of registry research, as well as research in quality of life and health economics. Also research in all areas of general surgery, such as upper gastrointestinal surgery, colorectal surgery, endocrine surgery, breast and melanoma surgery, as well as in both benign and malignant disease condition.

Research

Our researchers work in large networks, nationally and internationally, and our doctoral students come from all over the VG region and outside VGR. We are actively working to strengthen our research by recruiting new employees. Several of our research groups are presented here on the page, for further information, visit the groups. Education

We have teaching activities primarily within the medical program with clinical placements at both Sahlgrenska Surgery and Östra Surgery, but also in the Västra Götaland region, at Norra Älvsborg Hospital, Södra Älvsborg Hospital, Skaraborg Hospital and other hospitals in the region that have surgical operations.
