The Chamber Choir is looking for new singers for spring 2026
Take the opportunity to sing with the Academy of Music and Drama Chamber Choir, led by conductor Simon Arlasjö.

Auditions
Auditions (10-15 minutes per applicant) will take place in Konsertsal 1 at Konstnärliga in Gothenburg (address: Fågelsången 1) at the following times:
- Thursday 15 January, 16.00-18.00
- Friday 16 January, 09.00-13.00
What to prepare:
1 Solo song
Please prepare and sing an unaccompanied song of your choice, or choose one of the following songs, according to your voice type:
- Soprano: Bist du bei mir (E flat major) by Stölzel/Bach (PDF)
- Alto: Se tu m'ami (E minor) by Pergolesi (PDF)
- Tenor: Panis Angelicus (A major) by Franck (PDF)
- Bass: In diesen heil'gen Hallen (E major) by Mozart (PDF)
2 Range check
No preparation is required. During the audition you will be asked to sing some exercises.
3 Sight singing
No need to be concerned over this! This part helps the director get a picture of how quickly you can pick up new music. Just do your best!
Assessment criteria
During your audition, the following criteria will be assessed:
- Tone
- Range
- Intonation
- Sight singing
Rehearsals and concert
In the spring of 2026, the Chamber Choir will rehearse on Wednesdays from 16.30 to 18.30 in Konsertsal 1 at Konstnärliga (Fågelsången 1).

Simon Arlasjö, conductor
Simon Arlasjö studied choral conducting at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm under Mats Nilsson and Fredrik Malmberg, and completed a master's degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo under Grete Pedersen. He currently works as a church musician and conductor at the Swedish Margaret Church in Oslo and as a freelance conductor, including at the Music Conservatory in Falun. In 2024, he was one of eight semi-finalists out of over 90 applicants in the Eric Ericson Award, a prestigious international competition for choral conductors. He is a senior lecturer in choral conducting and conductor for the Chamber Choir at the Academy of Music and Drama.
Good to know about the Chamber Choir
The Chamber Choir is open to all who wish to apply, but the number of places per voice type is limited. The course is taught in English.
The Chamber Choir at the Academy of Music and Drama is an independent course that requires general entry requirements.
