Subsite D: Följesjön swamp/lake

Lake Följesjön is more a swamp than a lake. The site has electric power, fiber optic internet connection, cabin boardwalks, tower and bridges. The methane emissions is rather large and can amount to 4–9 mmol CH4 m-2 d-1 as compared to Boreal forest lakes which are usually in the range 0.2–1 mmol CH4 m-2 d-1.


Net GHG emissions of (CO2, CH4, H2O), water matter transport and ecosystem function of the lake/swamp. GHG flux studies by eddy covariance and supporting meteorological/biotic measurements. Water discharge and matter measurements of the wetland ecosystem, vegetation studies, remote sensing/spectral studies. The site has one EC flux towers at 3 m and one 6 m scaffold tower for profile and spectral studies. 200 m of floating bridges gives access to the dominating vegetation’s types at the site. Has a 3DSkygas installation for dynamic EC studies and chamber studies.
