The increase in global migration has sparked an increase in the publication of children’s literature, and especially picturebooks, from all over the world on this topic. This talk will provide an overview of picturebooks from different countries as well as how they can provide a ‘safe space’ to discuss this issue, not only for those readers who have experienced displacement but also for those who have not.
The talk is based on research over the past decade, both on picturebooks and on the response of readers and reading mediators, which shows how these multimodal texts can support inclusive practice in both traditional learning contexts and contexts of complex vulnerabilities.
Chair: Kristina Hermansson.
The seminar will be held in English.
