The Riksdag MP Survey
Swedish National Election Studies Program is involved in unique investigations on Swedish politicians.
The Riksdag survey has been conducted on twelve occasions (1969, 1985, 1988, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022) and thus constitutes the world's longest time series when it comes to studies of elected parliamentarians. The fact that the Riksdag Survey is conducted every term of office means a world-unique opportunity to study how our parliament has developed over time in terms of, for example, the composition of opinions, the view of democracy and representation roles.
In addition to reporting in a number of scientific articles and essays, the results of the survey have been reported in the form of a book (in Swedish) on each occasion: Brothén & Holmberg (2010); Esaiasson & Holmberg (1996); Holmberg (1974); Holmberg & Esaiasson (1988); Karlsson & Gilljam (2014); Karlsson (2018), Öhberg, Oscarsson & Ahlbom (2022) and Öhberg & Ahlbom (2025).
