Internship at the Competence and Service Centre for Interoperability

Take the opportunity to apply for an internship at CSCI during the spring semester of 2026.

The Competence and Service Centre for Interoperability (CSCI) is part of the European research infrastructure Monitoring Electoral Democracy (https://www.medem.eu/). CSCI’s aims to develop an analytical standard for the comparability and linkage of different types of data collections (text, survey, context, etc.) over time and across countries. The overarching goal is to create shared principles, models and tools, through which to advance European electoral research and strengthen the foundations for data-driven insights of democracy.

We are looking for someone who finds surveys and political opinion fascinating, and who is interested in — and has basic knowledge of — quantitative research methods, with an interest in survey or text data being a plus. You learn new software quickly. You show initiative and enjoy working independently. Knowledge of statistical software, such as R, is a requirement. The working language at CSCI is English.

Your main responsibilities will be varied, and you will contribute to the work in several ways, for example:

  • Compile and produce literature reviews
  • Compile and produce reports
  • You will have the opportunity to visualise and present results
  • You will have the opportunity to attend seminars organised by the Department of Political Science

The internship runs for 20 weeks. We admit students enrolled in a master’s programme in, for example, Political Science, European Studies or another programme with a social-science orientation. The internship is unpaid, but normally students enrolled in an internship course usually receive academic credits from their university.
