Research and expeditions
The Skagerak Facility is part of the University of Gothenburg’s unique marine research infrastructure, supporting expeditions and cutting-edge studies in chemistry, physics, geology, and biology. Central to the facility is the research vessel R/V Skagerak – enabling scientists to go further and deeper in their exploration of the ocean.
Designed for advanced marine expeditions, R/V Skagerak enables a broad spectrum of research activities – from physical and chemical oceanography to geology and marine biology. As part of the Skagerak Facility, the vessel offers tailored solutions for different types of measurements and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration at sea. These capabilities help drive scientific discovery and improve our understanding of the ocean’s role in a changing world.
