Activities to strengthen research
The Faculty of Education continues to invest in the strategic program for the development of research and postgraduate education.
Support Programme for Early-Career Researchers
The Faculty offers a support programme for researchers who hold a PhD but are not yet docent-qualified (primarily within five years of doctoral degree completion), as well as for doctoral candidates who have completed their final seminar. The programme runs over one academic year and consists of meetings focusing on project formulation, grant application writing, and career planning. Participants receive support in developing and articulating a project idea with the aim of securing external funding. Interested applicants should contact their department’s Vice Head of Department for Research.
Funding for an International Research Stay
Each year, the Faculty announces funding for a three-month research stay at a higher education institution abroad. The purpose is to strengthen research competence and international networks. The grant covers up to SEK 100,000 for additional costs, while the home department covers salary expenses. The call is usually announced in the spring.
Strategic Research Funding
The Faculty allocates incentive funding to strengthen the research environments at its departments. The funds may be used, for example, for research collaborations, doctoral education activities, or research infrastructure. Departments apply through the Head of Department and may receive up to SEK 500,000 per year for a period of two years. Applications are assessed by the Faculty’s International Scientific Advisory Board.
Ethics Council for Researchers and Doctoral Students
The Faculty of Education’s Ethics Council has a collegial and advisory role and consists of researchers from the Faculty’s departments, as well as a doctoral student representative. The establishment of the Council aims to support the development of a well-informed and clearly articulated, faculty-wide dialogue on knowledge production within the field of research ethics.
Conference on Practice-Based Research in Collaboration
A recurring conference is organised in collaboration with the Gothenburg Region and the City of Gothenburg, focusing on practice-based research and collaboration between academia and schools/preschools. The conference is aimed at researchers, school authorities, and others with an interest in collaborative research.
