SweDev PhD Conference 2022

The First SweDev PhD Conference provides doctoral students in Sweden with the opportunity to present ongoing research and network with peers in a cross-disciplinary environment. The conference will also include sessions on capacity-building.

When: 1-2 December, 2022.

Where: School of Global Studies, University of Gothenburg.

We welcome participants from all disciplines and PhD programs — in the social sciences, humanities, global health, natural sciences, etc.— working on development research, research for development, Agenda 2030 and beyond.

The conference is supported by the Swedish Development Research Network (SweDev) and is hosted by a local organizing committee consisting of doctoral students from the School of Global Studies (SGS) at the University of Gothenburg.

The event is free of charge (including lunch and conference dinner), but participants are responsible for their own travel costs and accommodation. A limited number of travel stipends will be available, covering budget travel and budget accommodation (one night, if travelling permits).

Your application must be submitted no later than 27 September, 2022, and should contain the following information:

1. Personal details: (i) name and contact details, (ii) name of PhD program, Swedish institutional affiliation and academic discipline, (iii) expected year of graduation.
2. Paper abstract (about 200 words). You can submit an article, a chapter or any relevant part of your PhD thesis (please specify; max 8,000 words).
3. State clearly if you want to apply for a travel stipend (include estimated cost).

Notification of acceptance and additional information about the conference will be distributed no later than 3 October, 2022. Papers for the conference need to be circulated by 21 November.
