Konstnärliga

The University of Gothenburg is planning a new building next to the Götaplatsen. A building where all the Faculty's subjects will be gathered, in premises suitable for world-class education and research. A building that supports our vision of interdisciplinary meetings and perspectives, a place in the middle of the city where people can meet, experience art and exchange knowledge, and which attracts both students and staff from all over the world.

A new building for the Artistic Faculty is part of the university's development plan for this area and the long-term vision to create a center for art and humanities, and a meeting place for academia and society, strategically located close to some of the city's major cultural institutions and the public transport node Korsvägen.

The building process is still in the phase of studies and planning and there are yet some steps ahead before a final decision to carry out the construction is made.

Alternative facilities during the construction

The new building will be constructed by remodelling and extending the buildings that make up Artisten, currently home of the Academy of Music and Drama. It will not be possible for the department to stay in the Artisten during the construction period. Instead, the research and education will take place in other university buildings and in theatres, music studios, churches and other appropriate and adopted facilities in Gothenburg.  Read more about this on the page Alternative facilities during building process.
