About us

The Artistic Faculty at the University of Gothenburg is the largest arts faculty in Scandinavia.

Our subjects cover design, film, photography, free art, crafts, literary design, music and performing arts, with niches such as jewellery art and opera.

The faculty has approximately 1,400 full-time students, 40 doctoral students and 380 employees.

Within the faculty, teacher training is also conducted in the subjects of visual arts, sloyd, music, dance and theater.

Torsten and Wanja Söderberg's professorship in Design Management

Torsten and Wanja Söderberg's professorship in Design Management will develop new knowledge and new practices in the meeting between artistic design practice, scientific theory, practice in management and business economics. Subject orientation may change over time, but should always be in the areas of design and economics. The professorship is not limited in time.

In 2007, the Torsten Söderberg Foundation donated SEK 40 million to the Artistic Faculty and the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.

Elena Raviola, researcher at HDK-Valand, is the holder of the professorship since September 1, 2018.
