Matilda Arvidsson är docent i internationell rätt, biträdande lektor i allmän rättslära, och forskar interdisciplinärt inom AI och rätten, rättsfilosofi, svensk och global kolonial rättshistoria, internationell rätt, posthumanism, feminism, etnografi samt om hur framtidens lagar kan reglera interaktionen mellan människa, djur, natur och teknik. Hennes publikationer tar bland annat upp teman som interaktionen mellan människa, miljö och svärmande drönare; trädgårdens plats i kolonial rättshistoria och i internationell rätt; samt hur psykoanalys och pedagogik för handledning av doktorandprojekt hör samman. Hon är är även aktiv som forskare och föredragshållare om #MeToo i akademin. Matilda är mottagare Albert Wallins vetenskapspris för 2025, utdelat av Kungl. Vetenskaps- och Vitterhets-Samhället i Göteborg.
Matildas forskningsnätverk sträcker sig över svenska, nordiska och internationella samarbeten, med forsknings- och gästprofessorsvisiter i bland annat Australien och Frankrike. Hon är Harvard Law School Institute for Global Law and Policy (IGLP) alumni. Tidskriftsredaktioner hon är redaktionsmedlem för inkluderar Feminist Legal Studies, International Journal of Law in Context, Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence: Law & Technology, och Law, Technology and Humans.
Matilda är redaktör för den kommande Routledge Handbook on AI, Law and Society (2025). Hon är även serie-redaktör för Routledge-bokserien AI, Law and Society - en bokserie för innovativ forsking inom AI, rätten och samhället. Serien ger ut fullängds-monografier, kort-monografier och antologier och tar emot bokförslag och förfrågningar på matilda.arvidsson@law.gu.se
