Om Ester Herlin-Karnell

Jag är professor i EU-rätt, särskilt EU-straffrätt. Jag är även docent i EU-rätt. Jag har tidigare varit professor i EU- konstitutionell rätt samt innehavare av en forskarstol vid VU University Amsterdam. Jag har en doktorsexamen från Somerville College, Oxford universitet, en LLM från King’s College London, samt en Jur kand från Stockholms universitet.

Mina forsknings- och undervisningsområden är främst inom ämnena EU-konstitutionell rätt, EU-straffrätt, politisk teori, mänskliga rättigheter och EU-marknadsrätt.

Jag är för närvarande ansvarig (work-package leader) för ett tvärvetenskapligt projekt om MR-teori som är en del av ett större EU Horizon finaniserat projekt HRJust vid GU samt ansvarig kontaktperson för en ny forskargrupp, European Constitutional Law & Comparative Constitutional Law även detta vid GU. Jag är också ämnesansvarig för straffrätt samt ledamot i professorsutskottet vid juridiska institutionen.

Nuvarande doktorandhandledning vid GU: Dmitrii Kuznetsov “Separation of powers and the role of the judiciary in implementation of states’ environmental obligations” (huvudhandledare), Johanna Gipperth, EU External Relations and Climate Change (EU konstitutionell rätt/ HRJust - huvudhandledare), Hugo Lundberg (understanding sanctions in international law from a theoretical lens) - biträdande).
